OCT.22.10New Studio Space. 999 N Hill Street in Chinatown.
At the end of this summer, Erin Hauber, Yasmin Khan, Mike Daines, Justin Gier
bonded together and I moved into a lovely new studio space, where we each
purse independent design practices. After working from home for the last three years
it is nice for me to have a designated work place and be among creative people.

AUG.24.09 A beautifully designed election ballot arrived from Germany for the upcoming federal elections.
AUG.1.09Fruit Foraging & Jam Making. Inspired by the Fallen Fruit collective and armed with their Larchmont map I went foraging for public fruit.
The bounty: plenty of figs, one avocado, two pomegranates, a few rose hips, and red pepper. Although I sadly missed Fallen Fruit’s 4th Annual Public Jam, I had a private jamming event that included backup fruit from the farmer's market. [-][+]

JUL.20.08Tract House Article in LA Times Book Review. Lisa Anne Auerbach wrote a great piece about tracts in conjunction with her Tract House project, which she and I collaborated on.
MAR.26.08Gardening at Night. In the spirit of Fritz Haeg's Edible Estate projects, I planted a little garden in my apartment complex.
After a while, I was joined by my neighbor Carlos and his son. He got the light that made it possible to work after sundown.
Carlos and I continued the next day...
MAR.14.08 In conjunction with the Anytime, Anywhere conference, I took part in the tour “Touring Olympia - Exposition Park” by Temporary Travel Office. The exhibition, which runs until March 1, includes a new project of mine: a video installation named "Sign People II."It is a continuation of a project that started as a photo documentary a few years ago. OCT.5.07 Beautiful sign on the way to the apple orchards of Oak Glen.
SEP.21.07 A walk in my neighborhood yielded two discoveries today: I witnessed a Park(ing) Day intervention at the Los Angeles Eco-Village.
I've been admiring the Park(ing) Day project (started by collaborative group Rebar in San Francisco) for a while, also mentioning it in my book Reclaim+Recover. It was great to be able to see these temporary gardens pop up in Los Angeles for one day. I had never heard of the Eco-Village before. It's exciting to have this community, which seeks more cooperative and ecological living patterns, right around the corner. [-][+]
SEP.14.07 Recently, I spent two days working with Barry McGee on a zine for his new exhibition at Redcat, which opened tonight.
I set up shop with laptop and scanner in the gallery, while Barry was excitedly hopping back and forth grabbing this and that to be included in the zine. A fun way of working! [-][+]
SEP.13.07 Evelyn Serrano invited me to participate in the "Town Hall Meeting" as part of The Other Project, for which I also designed the poster.
This event brought together officials from the City of Santa Clarita and CalArts to converse about furthering the connections between the Institute and its immediate communities. I started out the discussion with a presentation about the Re:Valencia project that had confronted similar questions about a year ago. [-][+]
MAY.29.07 A visit to Portland, Oregon, made it possible to swing by a few Intersection Repair projects (which I also included in my book Reclaim+Recover).
